5 Yoga Poses For Kids: Breathing Practice to Build Emotional Health

1. Mountain pose

This pose is one of the easiest to do. It is done standing up, stretching the back well, and keeping the feet parallel. Open your chest, breathe deeply while bringing your hands, palm to palm, toward your chest. Afterward, they rise above the head.

In this step, the mantra “I can get very high” can be said internallyThen the hands are lowered back to the chest. You can meditate with the phrase, “I am a majestic mountain” This asana will help you find the  ‪ equilibrium‬  between having your head in the clouds and feet on the floor.

2. Tree pose, one of the yoga poses that children can do

Begin by standing with your legs together, and your arms stretched out close to your hips. Next, the right foot’s sole should be brought towards the inside of the left thigh. If it does not go that high, it can be supported at any comfortable height.

Once the balance is reached, the arms should be stretched upwards, as if they were branches that want to touch the sky and, later, join the palms of the hands-on head. You have to stay like this for a few seconds. Then, it is repeated with the other leg.

3. Downward facing dog pose

The easiest way to start is with an inverted V. You start from a position on all fours, and the feet are stretched so that the heels try to touch the ground. 4. Cobra pose, another yoga posture that children can do

It starts on the floor face down. For this asana, the mantra is to think that we are long, stealthy, and strong, like the animal that gives it its name.

Thus, the hands are placed under the shoulders, and, little by little, the head is raised. Simultaneously, the legs are stretched, and the chest is lifted, arching back a little, being careful not to hurt your back. This pose helps strengthen the wrists and arms and lengthen the spine.

5. Relaxation pose

This last pose helps to end the exercise session calm and relaxed. It is appropriate to seek peace after situations of stress or restless periods.

It is performed lying on the floor, face-up, with the arms and legs stretched out and relaxed. There should be no tension of any kind. It can be accompanied by breathing exercises to promote more incredible stillness. It is a recommended asana to encourage reflection, as it encourages deep breathing and meditation.
